Why You Need A Side Hustle

hustlers-dont-sleep

Lets face it, if you are like most of us over forty people, you are stuck in a unfulfilling job, dragging your stressed out ass through the tired 9-5 grind of life only to come home depressed and unsatisfied.

You are filled with woulda-shoulda-couldas.  I’m stuck in the 9-5 hustle right now.  But my side hustle has lit a fire inside me.  The pain of the day job is now surpassed by the joy I have n building my empire.  I don’t do network marketing,  or mlm, I work in sales.

There is no shortage of jobs in the sales world that pay very well.  However, you need to work.  It is a side hustle after all.  A side hustle can be a blog or YouTube channel that you wish to monetize, perhaps you produce amazing cole slaw and want to produce the best-selling slaw in America.

Whatever the desire, you need a side hustle.  Especially if your 9-5 doesn’t have you were you want to begin life, and for most of us, it’s the desire to plan your day as you see fit.  To be able to work a business on your terms, not on the terms of corporate America.  In may opinion humans were not meant for cubes in buildings with artificial light for 8 hours a day.  It’s why we are the number one society with depression issues and illness.  It’s not a gratifying existence.

A side hustle will not only help you build a financial future, it will help you create immense disciplines that will make you a better person over-all.  We cannot count on the company to take care of us, the government will most likely bankrupt social security.  It is up to us to make sure we aren’t working our asses off at Home Depot at 68 years old when we should be doing the things we want with the people we love.

A side hustle keeps your mind active.  I’ve witnessed first hand what lethargy and complacency can do to people.  I watched my father give up on life. It’s a sad experience to witness.  Don’t let it happen to you.

A side hustle will help you meet new people.  If you are serious about success you will need the help of others.  One of the great things about building a side hustle is the people you will meet along the way.

A side hustle can hep you fight off depression.  Many people I talk to re seriously depressed about their work situation.  They wake up every morning, physically sick with the prospect of facing yet another day on the job.  he side business that you are building can help you shift focus from something that pains you, to growing a business that excites you.

Finally, a side hustle will help you become a better person.  To build an empire you have to become an empire builder, the mindset that has you were you are in life, has to change, and you will change, for the better.

Great reasons why you need a side hustle.  Find something you can be passionate about and create a business.  You can do it.

Rules I Live By Now That I learned The Lesson The a Hard Way

It seems as though part of life is learning lessons the hard way. For me personally, I have learned lessons the hardest way possible. Repeatedly.

My parents never taught me anything valuable. Honestly, I’m surprised they managed to keep me alive. Growing up as I expressed my dreams and ambitions I was always told “Thats too hard” or “You don’t want to do that, it’s a lot of work.” I was never pressed to go to college, pursue any ambitions or do anything for that matter.

My father feared the world and hid in a Budweiser bottle. My mother did her best but was of little help in pointing me towards designing a life. Go to work and get a job with benefits, was all I was told.

Growing up and moving on with life you begin to look to others for helpful advice in reaching goals or ambitions. However, this can be a disastrous method. I learned that the hard way. Over the past several years I have developed a set of rules I live by to help maintain my sanity as well as keep me on course in life. Here are some of my top rules.

5. Don’t take advice from someone who isn’t where you want to be in life.

Want to be a chef? Don’t take advice on how to do it from the grill cook at the pizza shop. Be a real estate millionaire? Don’t take advice from a relative who lives in an apartment. Find people who are doing exactly what you want to do and seek them out. There are loads of people out there who can give all kinds of advice on how to do or achieve something, but never have accomplished anything themselves. Avoid these people like the plague. Success leaves tracks, follow them.

4. Don’t Gossip

Pretty simple. Don’t say something about someone you wouldn’t say to there face. This can be difficult because it’s in our nature to gossip. If people confide in you. Keep it to yourself. You are much more valuable to someone as a confidant then a gossip. My motto, “I don’t know anything, and even if I do know something, I don’t know anything.”

3. I Don’t Take Shit

I’m 38 years old, I don’t take shit from anyone. And by shit I mean don’t guilt me into doing something, try to manipulate me or lie to me. My bullshit meter is pretty spot on these days.

2. I Will Cut You

I have never actually cut someone with a knife or a weapon, but if you are a drain on my existence, a liar, or anyone who distracts me from my goals, or means to be an asshole, I will cut you out of my life immediately. I don’t have time for bullshit.

1. I Am A Sarcastic Asshole

This is who I am. It means one of two things, I’m comfortable enough with you to be that way, or I don’t like you. It’s up to you to figure out which one.

Rules. They provide guidance in life. These rules have helped me stay focused. Do I break my rules? I try not too. However rule 1 nevet gets broken. Thanks for reading and please share!

How To Have Superhuman Productivity In The New Year

As the New Year approaches many of you will resolve to do more, accomplish more or whatever goals you may have to conquer the approaching New Year. But what is your plan of attack?  How are you going to make sure you achieve all those resolutions?

Over the years I have tried many ways to keep myself organized, productive and efficient. I experimented with many apps to help me be more efficient, but I quickly found some apps did too much, some, not enough and where overly complicated.  I needed something efficient, free and compatible with my iphone and ipad.  After much trial and error I have discovered that Evernote is the best app for helping me become better organized and efficient.

One of the biggest things I achieved was creating a To Do List.  Every morning before I start my day, I compile a list of things that need to be accomplished for the day.  Here’s a quick tip, put the item you are dreading doing on the top of your list.  For more on to do lists and the power of getting stuff done , I highly recommend Brian Tracey’s book, Eat That Frog.

Evernote will allow you to create notes and categorize them, Goals, To Do Lists, etc.  The app is simple to navigate and best of all its free.  You can achieve so much in life if you have a visual map of where you are going. The daily list of accomplishments will build momentum towards achieving more of your personal, professional and financial goals.

By using this app and creating simple notes I have been able to quadruple my production in life and work.  What’s the benefit of all this?  More time to do the things I want when I want.  It has streamlined life.  I highly recommend Evernote to anyone looking to becoming a more productive and efficient Superhuman.
