Life After 40

On October 1 2017 I turned 42.

It has been nearly 2 years since I last published post on this blog.  Life has changed dramatically for me over the last few years.  Huge career shifts, the death of my parents six months apart from each other, and a spiritual/mind awakening occurred.

I fell out of love with the world of fitness and the business of fitness about 2 years ago. The grind of marketing and the business end of training people for fitness became more of a drag than exciting.  My physical and mental fitness suffered.  I learned a lot about business partnerships.  The hard way.

However, life changes quickly, and without warning.  In December of 2016 I lost my mother to cancer.  Six months later my father passed. He had suffered for 10 years with Alzheimers disease.

After failing in the fitness business, losing my parents and having to start over again in my forties I came to a lot of realizations.

Life isn’t what its cracked up to be.  The pressure of society to conform is overwhelming, and looking back on life, I wish I did so much differently.  This seems to be the opinion of a lot of people my age.  We were let down by a society that says go to college, buy a house get into debt, buy crap, live the American dream.

thats not my dream, not anymore.

After my parents passed I realized that of all the stuff in the family home, the only thing of real value to me was the pictures, 8mm films and my fathers high school football jersey.

Life after 40 is my account of rebuilding my life after 40, I have a new career as a consultant with a merchant services company.

My goals are to travel more, be in the ultimate physical and mental shape of my life,  but also build a rewarding career that allows me to live the next 40 years of life on my terms, collecting memories, not junk.

I’ve become passionate about Alzheimers awareness and I will be spending the rest of my days helping as much as possible the Alzheimers Association find a cure to this terrible disease.

I look at life in an entirely different way now.
